Robert Markel comes from a long line of Greenville entrepreneurs. His grandfather, Richard Markel (R.F. Markel and Associates), his father, John Markel (Markel Valuation P.C.), and his uncle, Richard Markel (R.J. Markel Educational Resources) each started their own businesses in Greenville. After graduating from Greenville High, Robert attended Rhodes College in Memphis, TN, graduating cum laude with a bachelor's degree and honors in art. He then began work at Seiler Building Corporation, a general contractor in Memphis, while also working toward an MBA at the University of Memphis. 2001 was an important year for Robert, as he founded Hadrian Construction and married his wife, Erin.
Robert has pursued continuing education and community involvement throughout his career, earning the designations of Certified Graduate Remodelor (CGR) and Certified Green Professional (CGP) from the National Association of Home Builders. He was the Past President of the Home Builders Association of Greenville, a graduate of Leadership Greenville Class 34, and a board member for Furman YMCA Interactive (FYI). Greenville Business Magazine recognized Robert's professionalism and community service by placing him on its list of Best and Brightest 35 and under in 2009. Robert cherishes most his time with his wife and their three children.
